WHY JOIN THE NAUSET FLOTILLA

Specialized Training  •  Boating Safety Education

Nauset Flotilla serves the Lower and Outer Cape. Nauset Flotilla is aligned with the US Coast Guard Station Provincetown at the far end of our geographic area of responsibility on the tip of Cape Cod. We work closely with the Coast Guard to ensure our community and summer visitors are educated in boating safety before going on the water and provide patrol assistance to ensure they remain safe while on the water. Nauset Flotilla serves a broad, beautiful and varied number of boating venues, including: Cape Cod Bay, Pleasant Bay, Town Cove in Orleans and the National Seashore north of Cahoon Hollow Beach (Wellfleet) to Provincetown. These waters are historic for their role in the birth and growth of our nation. They are shared and enjoyed today by commercial fishermen, charters and recreational power, sail and paddle craft operators.

Specialized Training. The USCG Auxiliary offers many areas of specialized training that can lead to certifications such as Boat Crew, Coxswain, Boating Safety Instructor, Program Visitor, Vessel Examiner, Culinary Specialist, Radio Watch Stander and more. There are also opportunities for critical functional training in a number of disciplines; including but not limited to: finance, human resources, public affairs and diversity. Finally, there are a number of opportunities for leadership training that are geared to track with your experience and interests as you build your Auxiliary career.

Fellowship. One of the Four Cornerstones of the Auxiliary is fellowship. The Nauset Flotilla is a small team with a shared mission that requires reliance upon each other on and off the water. That bond does not end when we take off the uniform. In addition to the embedded fellowship moments, for example: before and after meetings, Summer Barbecue, December Holiday gathering and Surface Ops Season Kick-off and End-of-Season celebrations, our members and their families form lasting friendships that transcend the Auxiliary.

Are you interested? If yes, members of the public are always welcome to attend one of our flotilla meetings. Join us anytime or reach out to our Human Resources Staff Officer (FSO-HR) Kosta Lambros and let us know when you'd like to join us. We look forward to meeting you.
